Toyota Collection

There are three trim levels for the 2022 Toyota C-HR. The grades are XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited.

Interior

The 2022 C-HR cabin can be accessed with remote keyless entry. The typical interior design will favor the Jet Black look, but if you want a pop of color, the XLE trim offers prominent blue accents that zip across the dashboard and split the door panels to loop the cabin.

What can you do with a push of a button? Activate the Push Button Start with the Smart Key System. The center console area contains a 12-volt power outlet and two cup holders. There are also two door cupholders for the rear passengers. Keep the cabin at the perfect temperature with the Dual-zone automatic climate control system, which includes a pollen filter to keep the air fresh. Bucket seats are standard, and both front seats are six-way adjustable with sport bolsters. The driver’s seat also has an available eight-way power-adjustable feature for better access. The rear seating area can safely hold three passengers with adjustable headrests for maximum comfort. If you need more space for cargo, the second row does have a 60/40 split fold-flat option. More storage can be found in the front-door storage pockets, and the glove compartment, along with the obvious spacious hatchback area. If all else fails, the passengers’ laps are always an option.

Technology

The standard eight-inch touchscreen display protrudes from the middle air vents to raise the screen to where it is easily visible to all occupants, especially the driver. It is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.

The puddle lights are accessible on your Smart Key Fob. This is both a safety feature and new tech, as it projects a “C-HR” logo onto the ground so you can see if there is anything around your vehicle as you approach. You can also access the puddle lighting with the handle sensor if you are already at your door and drop something. On top of everything, it’s also just kinda cool.

Safety Features

High-tensile steel makes up the frame of the 2022 C-HR, which creates a rigid and strong foundation. The C-HR has access to the Star Safety System, Safety Connect, ten standard airbags, a backup camera, and the available Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The blind spot monitor alerts you visually on the side mirrors and audibly with a warning tone.

The 2022 C-HR comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. This suite of safety features includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Road Sign Assist. Reviews

Edmunds rates the 2022 C-HR 7.1 out of 10. Edmunds praises it for its sporty handling, fun driving capabilities, numerous standard technology and safety features, and unique style. Toyota is specifically congratulated for its bold choice in styling the C-HR. The C-HR ranks even higher when it comes to comfort thanks to the smooth suspension features and pleasant interior environment. Read the full Edmunds review here.

Kelley Blue Book offers an above-average rating of 3.5 stars in the expert category, while consumers rate the C-HR even higher with a 4.1-star rating. The review itself discusses the abundance of standard safety features, vital fuel economy, pleasant handling, and standard Toyota reliability. When discussing the design, KBB also brings up the unparalleled exterior design, even going as far as to say that Toyota created a four-door SUV with the first-look appearance of a two-door vehicle. KBB goes further to reassure readers that uncommon design does not take away from interior comfort or overall exterior styling either. Read Kelley Blue Book’s full review.

Exterior

The 2022 C-HR has a unique design, down to the vortex-style wheels. This year’s model was refined even further for a sharper look. From the chin spoiler below the wide grille and strong front fascia to the sporty look of the side profile, the C-HR complements its driver’s style. The paint choices to spice up your ride are:

  • Wind Chill Pearl
  • Magnetic Gray Metallic
  • Supersonic Red
  • Blue Eclipse Metallic

Whichever color scheme you choose, with even more artful options for higher editions like the Nightshade Edition, the 2022 C-HR will be an eye-catching ride to take around town.

It’s not just about looks though. The edge you get from the 2022 C-HR style is functional with the LED headlights positioned above the side air vents and a rear spoiler connecting the hood to the hatchback. The basic design was created for the most aerodynamic feel. Pulling out all the aerodynamic stops, there are rear fins with a rear spoiler, rear lower diffuser, vortex generators, underbody panels, and both front and rear wheel spats. The front window is actively reducing noise to keep your cabin quiet. The rear window is equipped with a defogger and there’s also a rear wiper to make sure you can see all around you. The side mirrors are power heated for early mornings or chilly days, which will also show your turn signal and blind-spot warning indicators, where the puddle light is located, and have an auto-folding feature.

The Nightshade Edition offers the driver a sleek and refined look for the C-HR as it relies on blacked-out accents, including black badging, door handles, and chin spoiler, to do so. Even the vortex-styled 18-inch black alloy wheels continue the theme down to the black lug nuts. The Nightshade comes with additional exterior color schemes, such as

  • Wind Chill Pearl with Black Roof
  • Black Sand Pearl
  • Magnetic Gray Metallic with Black Roof
  • Supersonic Red with Black Roof and Side Mirrors

The cabin continues the theme with a black interior design and gunmetal trim. The Nightshade Edition was added to the Toyota C-HR lineup in 2021. Learn more about how they integrated style and attitude into the C-HR with this new trim.
