2022 Toyota Tacoma vs. 2022 Chevrolet Colorado
With plenty of new vehicles lining up to hit our lot, we at Landers Toyota NWA in Rogers, Arkansas want you to know your options. So, let’s compare some of your choices. To start us off, we have the 2022 Toyota Tacoma versus the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. Let’s discuss the differences.
Exterior Design
With 33 total configurations available to customize your 2022 Tacoma to fit your needs, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma trumps the 2022 Chevy Colorado’s 18 total configurations. The configurations include various cab sizes, bed lengths, and drivetrain options.
The 2022 Toyota Tacoma includes a fiber-reinforced composite bed, steel panels, and an available 120V power outlet, each of which is missing in the 2022 Colorado. The Colorado’s truck bed has a spray-on bed liner option, but it doesn’t come standard. For more storage, the Tacoma does offer two lockable cargo bed storage compartments, which are unavailable for Colorado owners.
Performance
The 2022 Toyota Tacoma’s off-road capability is partially thanks to its standard electronic locking rear differential and suspension lift. Engine options for the 2022 Toyota Tacoma include a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 159 horsepower or a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp. The 2022 Chevy Colorado’s power can be found in the available 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 181 hp.
Interior
While the 2022 Chevy Colorado did have a recent refresh, including an updated infotainment system, it lacks key features that set it a step away from the 2022 Toyota Tacoma. A power sliding rear window and moonroof are two new available high-tech features for your 2022 Tacoma. Beyond comfort, the 2022 Tacoma’s driver’s seat is a 10-way power-adjustable seat to keep you an arm’s length from the wheel or reclined while parked. While the Colorado’s driver seat can be adjusted six different ways, there is not a Colorado trim that comes with the power sliding rear window or moonroof option.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard with each 2022 Tacoma, and the available Amazon Alexa option offers the user more voice control over their vehicle and environment. Each Chevy Colorado will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but these connectivity features are not standard.
Toyota owners can test run Toyota’s available Connected Services, and a Connected Services trial comes with access to Safety Connect, Remote Connect, Service Connect, Wi-Fi Connect, Dynamic Navigation, and Destination Assist.
For the 2022 Tacoma, Toyota Safety Sense-P comes standard. This safety package includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The 2022 Chevy Colorado does come standard with a rear camera, but the safety equivalent of Toyota’s Lane Departure and Collision Alert is only available for higher trim levels.
Each Toyota Tacoma is impressive and flexes on its competition. For more tailoring, the 2022 Tacoma can come in a Trail Special Edition, or with one of the following extra performance packages: TRD Premium Sport Package, SR5 Dynamic Navigation Package, and Advanced Technology Package.
