2022 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2022 Jeep Cherokee
Whether Cavalry Blue or Ruby Flare, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 brings style and control to the journey ahead of you. Your journey is personal to you, whether it be to the nearest dollar store for a last-minute birthday balloon or across the country to a new off-the-beaten-path, no cellphone service nature trail. We at Landers Toyota NWA in Rogers, Arkansas think the 2022 RAV4 is the perfect ride to take on your next adventure.Â
We will admit though that some will disagree with us, and the RAV4 does have healthy competition when it comes to vehicles that are great compact SUVs to take off-roading. One such competitor is the 2022 Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep brand itself is known widely for its desire to always be exploring where the wheels leave the asphalt. So, how does the versatile and reliable Toyota RAV4 compare against the ambitious and packed Jeep Cherokee? Let’s discuss the differences between the two.Â
We’ll start with more general comparisons between the two. The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has eight trim levels, while the 2022 Jeep Cherokee has nine. Both compact SUVs come with standard LED headlights and taillights, available moonroof and roof rails, as well as a variety of personalized choices you as the owner can make to customize your new ride. As well as a moonroof, the RAV4 also has a panoramic glass roof option for a larger alternative to the standard moonroof size. To customize your RAV4’s style, you can choose to make your paint job two-tone, an option that is absent for the Cherokee.Â
RAV4 performance relies both on gas and electric components. The RAV4 line comes in multiple hybrids and plug-in models, and the RAV4 Hybrid extends its efficiency to the max with a combined rating of 40 miles per gallon. The standard gas engine beneath the RAV4 hood is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower, 184 lb.-ft. of torque, and an estimated 30 combined miles per gallon. All-wheel drive is available for the RAV4 including a Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Rear Driveline Disconnect.Â
The Cherokee does come with three engine options, but Jeep has yet to create a hybrid version of the Cherokee, plug-in or otherwise. There’s only one engine option for the 2022 Cherokee, a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 180 hp and an estimated 25 mpg. Similar to the RAV4, the Cherokee does come with all-wheel drive options.Â
The technology package within the Toyota RAV4 comes with quality equipment. The RAV4 comes standard with a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display, while a seven-inch version is optional. It also has an available Head-Up Display, Digital Rear View Camera, and Bird’s Eye View Camera. The RAV4 center touchscreen comes standard at seven inches, but can be upgraded to nine inches. Every Toyota RAV4 touchscreen comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and available Amazon Alexa compatibility. Once your phone is connected, your music can surround the cabin through the available 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio System. Furthermore, Toyota owners have access to the Connected Services for a trial period, which are equipped with available Wi-Fi Hotspot and Destination Assist. Excluding the base LE trim, each RAV4 comes standard with five USB ports.Â
The technology within the Jeep Cherokee is slightly different, down to the four fewer USB ports in the center console. The standard Cluster Display is 3.5-inches, with an available seven-inch option, which does make the standard version smaller than the RAV4’s standard screen. The Cherokee also lacks a Head-Up Display and Digital Display. The Cherokee is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible but has not been fitted with the tech to work with Amazon Alexia. Your phone will connect to the standard seven-inch or available 8.4-inch touchscreen situated within the dash.Â
There are more differences between the RAV4 and the Cherokee, like the distinction between standard safety features (the 2022 RAV4 comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0).
